RSP is open to queries regarding publication of full-length poetry or fiction collections in April and July. We are not currently seeking novels or nonfiction, but we will consider novellas. Authors should send us 50-100 words about themselves (including publication history), followed by a brief synopsis of the work, via email or our contact form. No agent needed for queries, but ***please do not send manuscripts unsolicited.*** Emails sent with attachments to cait@redsweaterpress.com before a manuscript request has been received will be deleted and/or marked as spam.

The following services are à la carte, meaning they can be purchased separately as needed. For example, if you would like to publish your own work (self-publish), but you need help with formatting, you could hire us for just that. Or, if your manuscript has been edited and formatted but you still need a cover, you could hire us to make one or contract one for you.

If you are interested in purchasing a service, please use the contact form on this website and specify which service(s) you are requesting, as well as the word count of your manuscript and any upcoming deadlines. Availability may be limited and Red Sweater Press cannot accept all requests at all times, but these services are generally available year round.

All services will be offered by Caitlin Buxbaum DBA “Red Sweater Press” (rates subject to change). PLEASE NOTE: Alaska residents receive priority for all services, followed by non-resident authors with strong connections to Alaska. However, works need not be about Alaska or reference Alaska to be considered for publication.

If you are a current student in an Alaska school district, you or your parent may schedule virtual consults or tutoring sessions at the rate of $25/hr, not to exceed 3 hours per week. This offer is also open to alumni and current students of Gustavus Adolphus College and Antioch University LA’s MFA Program.

Please note that Red Sweater Press does not publish the work of any author under the age of 18 or still enrolled in high school.

  • $30/hr for Zoom, Skype, Discord or phone call, or in-person meeting within 15 driving miles

  • $35/hr for in-person meeting within 15.1-49.9 driving miles

  • $40/hr for in-person meeting within 50-60 driving miles

Copy editing

  • Book manuscript: $0.01 per word

  • Essay, short story, poetry collection, or other short academic work (less than 10,000 words): $2/page (double-spaced, 12 pt. font, 1-in. margins for prose)

Content/developmental editing

  • Book manuscript: $0.02 per word

  • Essay, short story, poetry collection, or other short academic work (less than 10,000 words): $3/page (double-spaced, 12 pt. font, 1-in. margins for prose)

Publishing

Paperback formatting

  • All manuscripts: $25/hr

eBook formatting

  • All manuscripts: $22/hr

Cover Design

  • Stock photo + text: $60 ($25 if author supplies photo, w/ licensing info)

  • Caitlin Buxbaum original photo + text: $80
